CLASS B - BZ SCHOOL BUS DRIVING PROGRAM
Learn everything you need to get going as certified school or commercial bus driver. Our program is designed to prepare each individual to obtain a commercial bus driver’s license. Persons with an Ontario Class BZ licence are licenced to drive any school bus purpose vehicle, as well as any vehicle that requires the driver to have a Class CZ, DZ, E or F licence.
Be at least 21 years of age. Must hold valid Ontario Class “G” license or higher. (G1 & G2 are not eligible.) Meet medical & vision standards.Student may get the medical form either from the school or the MTO as it may not be available with the Doctor. (Specific form designed by the Ministry) Take your completed Ontario medical form to your local Ministry of Transportation Office when you go to write your beginner’s test. (The Ministry will keep this medical form so make sure you make copies of it before handing it in) You will be required to pay the MTO an $85.00 licencing fee prior to writing the test. Do not write the ‘Z’ endorsement (Air Brake) portion of the test at that time as we provide this course as part of your training. You may purhcase the book from our office in order to pass the written test. Not be classed as Probationary or Novice Driver. Not have accumulated more than 6 demerit points. Not have driver’s license under suspension at any time within the preceding 12 months as a result of being convicted of certain driving related and Criminal Code of Canada Offences. Not have convicted within the past 5 years under certain narcotics, sexual or morals-related offences. Not have been convicted or found guilty of any offences for conduct that affords reasonable grounds for believing that he/she will not properly perform his duties, or is not a proper person to have custody of children. Have successfully completed a Professional Driver Improvement Course approved (PDIC) by the Ministry of Transportation. We offer the same course in our school.
This program is designed to meet the training requirements so that students will gain a fuller understanding of the basic knowledge and practical skills necessary to become a proficient entry-level school bus/commercial bus driver. This program meets the needs of students with no prior knowledge or experience in School Bus Driving. Our goal is to make sure students are getting quality training that will continuously monitor the industry requirements and needs and make changes accordingly.
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to obtain work in entry-level bus driver positions with school districts, city motor coach companies, school bus companies, limousine transportation service.
The standard Safe Practices for School Bus, defines defensive driving as “driving to save lives, time, and money, in spite of the conditions around you and the actions of others. It is a form of training for BZ drivers that goes beyond mastery of the rules of the road and the basic mechanics of driving. Its aim is to reduce the risk of driving by anticipating dangerous situations, despite adverse conditions or the mistakes of others. This program helps you take it all at one time and allow you to discuss and ask questions from the instructor. This course last only 8 hours. This course does not require approval under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005 In this course, the principles of defensive driving with relation to the commercial driver are covered. The curriculum is designed by the Canada Safety Council. This course is designed for persons currently in bus transportation. We help our students to find jobs after graduation and will always be here to help once they've moved on to bigger and better things.
